Events and Programs

The Castlegar Nordic Ski Club hosts a number of events that you can look forward to. Note that all registration forms and race results can be found at the bottom of this page.

Fall General Meeting - A chance to learn of new developments in the club and last chance to get your discounted membership. Meeting is held during the second week of November (November 12, 2009).

Annual General Meeting - A recap of the season and preparations for any improvements to be worked on during the summer months. New executive members are nominated and sworn in. Meeting is held on the second week of March (watch for notices in the newspaper)

Troll Loppet - Sunday, February 28, 2010. The Loppet has been held for over 20 years and is the longest running event held by the club . This 'ski marathon' event is not timed and distances vary for all ages and abilities.

BC Rabbit Program - The Castlegar Nordic Ski Club will be providing cross-country ski lessons for children ages 4 to 13. Lessons have been postponed due to low numbers of children. For program registration, please contact Trevor Rimmer at 359-8043. The early entry cost of the Bunny Program (under 5 years) is $25 and for the children aged 6 to 13, $40. Family discounts are available for more than one child enrolling.

Kootenay Cup - The Castlegar Nordic Ski Club will not be hosting a Kootenay Cup event this year. The Kootenay Cup series is an interclub participation based competition series between Blackjack (Rossland), Nelson, Kimberley and Castlegar. Any club members wanting to volunteer as race director for future races are encouraged to contact Chris Bullock or Fiona Mackay.

Moonlight Ski - Would you like to enjoy the peace and serenity of a moonlight ski. Head-up to the Viking Centre at 7 pm on any full moon and gather with like-minded people for a short ski and social. Bring your head lamp if you have one.
